Individual Coaching to Maximize Success on Your Stress Management Journey

What do you do when life gets messy? Maybe you dig your heels in and ride out the discomfort, overwhelm, and anxiety that comes with stress as it hits again and again like waves on the shore. You've seen the power of stress…er waves, right?
​If you want the waves to stop washing the sand out from underneath you every time you get back up again, let me help you find the rocks in your life that break those waves. I'm talking about building on your already-established strengths to prevent stress and its destructive power. 

Is Coaching for You?

Coaching does not address long-standing anxiety, depression, or personality disorders. Stress management coaching specifically focuses on temporary mood, sleep, cognition, and energy issues brought on by stress that typically resolve when stress is well-managed. If you battle long-standing mental health conditions or your stress management goals don't extend beyond "feeling better," then a licensed therapist will more likely provide the benefits you seek. In fact, a good coach will make a referral if these situations come up in coaching sessions.

Through carefully crafted questions, activities, and challenges, I guide you toward self-discovery of the changes necessary to move from stressed out to stressed less. Don't expect to eliminate stress from your life, an outcome as unrealistic as it is unhealthy. Instead, expect to work as a team to find and maintain your ideal level of stress. I provide one-of-a-kind tools, support, and motivation to keep you moving toward end goals you can S. E. E.: they're Sustainable, Executable, and Exciting.

If you were to compare traditional therapy and coaching, therapists possess the training and skills to analyze and understand how past experiences affect your current ability to thrive in society and achieve optimal mental health. Coaches, on the other hand, help clients take inventory of their current mindset only as it relates to the goals established in the coaching process. In other words, coaches accept your unique starting point and push you toward your ideal future, as determined entirely by you, using your present strengths to build upon and create momentum.

The coaching process requires effort. I can't do everything for you, and I won't hand you all of the answers. In addition to participating in a weekly one-to-one coaching call, you'll also need to devote roughly an hour each day to following through on whatever we discussed for that week. Think of all the effort you've already put into fighting your way through life lately, only to feel like it remains out of your control. Redirect that energy into a process that helps you regain control, starting with your first call.

What Happens During Coaching Sessions

We schedule weekly phone or video calls for each month in advance. During the hour-long calls, we set progressive goals directly related to understanding, counteracting, and limiting the ways in which stress enters and impacts your life. As a team, we devise strategies to reach those goals that take the form of actionable weekly tasks that will move you steadily toward your goals. The Stress Less Coaching process includes:

  • Empowering self-discovery to map out stress from its triggers to your instinctive and habitual reactions. As a result, you will spot the signs of stress much earlier so that you can stop it ASAP.

  • Uprooting stress-serving habits and replacing them with healthier, long-term habits formed at biological and subconscious levels to ensure you automatically know what to do at the first signs of stress.

  • Zeroing in on effective relaxation and stress management tools tailored to your immediate needs; how stress impacts you physically, emotionally, and socially; and your unique interests. No experimenting with the hundreds of potential techniques out there. It's just not necessary, and I'm sure you'd rather spend your time on other things.​

What Makes My Stress Less Coaching Different

​​With all of the choices available for online life and wellness coaching, I encourage you to exercise due diligence to find the right one for you. Here's what I think you should know about me...

  • I do not provide general life coaching. I specialize in sleep science and stress management, even more specifically for parents and caregivers of loved ones with chronic or terminal health conditions. Yes, stress affects most areas of life, which led me to focus on this particular area of health and personal development.  ​
  • In addition to being a certified sleep and stress management coach, I'm also a board-certified music therapist. After 16 years in therapeutic music settings, I began transitioning to coaching. I enjoyed providing solutions for stress using music for the caregivers, cancer and hospice patients, elders with dementia, and kids with sensory processing disorders I served as a music therapist. As a coach, however, I get to facilitate a more thorough approach. I still employ the power of music, but I also use techniques completely unrelated to music therapy. They each serve an important purpose at precisely the right moment in the coaching process.

  • I view the relationship between stress and the change that typically precedes it as a dance. When we experience change, we either adapt to a new rhythm that keeps moving us forward…

    Or we hesitate, stumble, and lose direction because we remain out of sync.

    Rhythm appears in nearly every healthy function of the body and brain: walking, sleeping, waking, eating, digesting, talking, thinking, breathing, pumping blood, working, and more. I use rhythm and other aspects of music to make my coaching methods more relatable, motivating, and enjoyable. As a result, you'll see improvements in your sleep, mood, focus, and energy more quickly and easily, making you less prone to stress. You might even notice secondary benefits that come with better management of stress-related health conditions.
